Mooncakes Donation Program – The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon – Chu Ting Cheong Home For The Aged

The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon was established in the mid-19th century, originating from the "gongcheng" (public scale) near the Lun Jin Pier , where goods were weighed for trade. All proceeds from the weighing were used for charitable purposes, and in 1880, it officially became a charitable organization. Lok Sin Tong Chu Ting Cheong Home For The Aged is a government subvented combined home for the elderlies. The buildings and land were generously donated in 1976 by Mr. Chu Yan Kit, according to his late father Mr. Chu Ting Cheong’s will, to further the cause of social welfare. It began providing services in 1983 and has commenced its service conversion programme. The present capacity includes placements in the Old People’s Home Section, Long-term Care Section and Infirmary Section.

Established in July 1981, the centre was the first elderly service centre of the New Life Church of Christ. It was later transformed into a Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to provide more comprehensive support services for the elderly. Guided by the spirit of Christ’s love, the centre cares for the holistic needs of individuals (physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.) It serves the elderly, supports their caregivers, and builds a strong community network.
