With the spirit of mutual self-help at its core, the organization unites individuals with visual impairments and works to secure equal opportunities for them in education, employment, and social welfare. The Hong Kong Single Parents Association (HKSPA), established in 1991, is a registered non-profit organisation supporting single-parent families and those in need. Guided by the motto "Strengthen Ourselves, Help Ourselves, then Help Others," it provides emotional, employment, educational, and legal support to help families overcome challenges and reintegrate into society. Operating through 7 service centres, HKSPA offers key services including: the Single Parent Mental Health Programme, Support Hotline, Grassroots Family Support, Employment Support, Child Care Project, and Divorce Family Counselling. The Association actively promotes co-parenting education, moral development for single-parent children, and support for children from disadvantaged families. HKSPA also researches single-parent policies and advocates for greater government attention to their needs, while enhancing public understanding and acceptance of single-parent families. Hong Kong Blind Union (HKBU) was established in 1964. It is the first self-help group organized and managed by people with visual impairment. It aims at promoting the spirit of self-help and mutual-help as well as striving for equality, opportunities and independence for visually impaired persons. HKBU provides comprehensive services for the newly blind, life adjustment programmes, education, employment, audio description for sport programmes and advocacy for the visually impaired in Hong Kong.
